Sad to say but being Native American and not knowing how your people lived and survived day to day is how I grew up. Now I live to learn and perfect those skills and abilities and pass them on to my children and any who wish to learn.

A bone point, more native cultures used bone to make arrow points, dart points, knife blades especially if they couldn't get any chert or flint. They would bust up the long bones and using sand stone or such file the bone into the desired point. Heating the bone also hardened and allowed the sharp edge to remain sharp. Many of these techniques I am sure came about buy trial and error but they did work because we are here today.

Collection of recent bird points and blades, will start working the river change this next week into suitable lengths for arrows and atlatl darts and will make some handles for the blades also will be finishing some atlatls soon and posting pictures as well. Hope to have enough primitive weapons completed for a local Christmas festival market to offer for sale as gifts. Also hopefully will be able to go to some knapins or rendezvous to sale some of these items also. Some will be Christmas gifts as or family only swaps homemade gifts.

An obsidian blade hafted to a deer leg bone with sinew, partial deer jaw bone in background to possibly be used as a handle for a future stone knife. These are the types of tools I enjoy making and using. I do have conventional tools/weapons, but if the need arises, I don't have to rely on them to get a task done. Of course it is alot more work at times but this obsidian has a surgically sharp edge that will skin an animal faster than most conventional tools will. Alas you do have to be careful you don't take a finger when you are cutting. I find that my proficiency has beome greater at hunting and taking game since learning to use primitive methods, and enjoy the experience a lot more than using conventional tools and means. It makes me feel like I am giving my prey more of a chance to get away and being more in tune with nature and my surroundings. Hence I feel I am able to survive better because I am paying more and better attention to my surroundings.
